Scope and Content: This series includes images from Columbus Day celebrations in the city of Newark, NJ, primarily in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Included are many images of Columbus Day Parade Marshalls, usually politicans or celebrities of Italian heritage, parade floats and participants, and luncheons or dinners honoring the parade marshalls.These images may have been photographed by Ace Alagna or may have been photographed by staff photographers of the Italian Tribune. Earlier images may be more likely to have taken by Ace Alagna; any images featuring Ace Alagna were likely taken by staff photographers. The images are chronologically where possible. Descriptions were transcribed from original housing.Images are described at the file level: each file contains a group of images and indicates how many images are in that group. Many images have been scanned; these images have been assigned individual numbers, listed as "Image" with a span of numbers. Images that were not scanned are listed as "Folder" and have one number for the entire file, with an E or SG in the number.
